housing services of mid-michigan

giving tree

Each winter, we collect mittens, scarves, and hats to donate to local charities, by placing them on a “mitten tree.”

Eventually, we expanded this effort to run throughout the year, and now we host a “giving tree” (actually crates stacked in a tree shape), with a different focus for each month, such as school items, personal care items, diapers and baby food, etc.

This is an important and ongoing part of our mission efforts.

easter dinner

Marking the culmination of our Holy Week celebration, our church offers a Community Easter Dinner starting at noon.

This traditional ham dinner is offered free to the public, with donations accepted but not expected.

festival of trees

Each November, the Missions Team holds a holiday-themed auction of decorated trees, festive quilts, and wall decorations. Members, local businesses, and friends of the church donate their delightful creations, which are then auctioned off. All proceeds to go to Eaton Clothing and Furniture’s Winter Boots for Kids program.

nordic fire festival

One of our favorite community traditions is the Michigan Nordic Fire Festival. Held each February, it’s a flurry of demonstrations, reenactments, vendors, and viking-inspired activities.

We are happy to support this event each year by offering guests free hot cocoa and cookies.
