Troop 45 has been chartered by First Congregational Church, Charlotte since 1928. Over that 91 years we, as church members, have enjoyed a lasting and deep commitment to the success of scouting and the young men who have used this building, added hours of community service and provided a yearly boy scout Sunday service each year in February.
Webelos, Cub Scouts and the Boy Scout Troop itself all meet in this building for their regular scheduled meetings and are very active in the scouting experiences offered off site as well. More information on joining this troop can be found by contacting David Frost by email or phone (517) 202-2257.
New Scout Master is John Haney Jr. A former member of troop 45. Our Eagle Scout count is now 121, which includes our new Scout Master. This past summer the troop rode their bikes from Charlotte to Alaska! Getting to Wisconsin via the S. S. Badger ferry.
This summer we are returning to Philmont Scout Ranch located near the town of Cimarron, New Mexico; it covers 140,177 acres of wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of the Rocky Mountains. Born in 1938 as Philturn Rocky Mountain Scout camp, today’s Philmont Scout Ranch is a bustling center for high adventure and training. Youth and adults take advantage of the Ranch’s camping, training and work programs.
The Cub Scout Pack is doing great, lead by Aaron Todd, and Eagle from Troop 3.
Kindergarten students are now able to participate in Scouts. And probably the most significant and long overdue update is that Scouting is now Co-ed in all areas! And the pack has lead the way in that department bring young ladies officially into the fold!!!!
Join us February 10 to celebrate our partnership with Troop 45!
