First Congregational Church Shoebox Ministry donated 35 boxes to Eaton Clothing and Furniture Center and 35 to SIREN/Eaton Shelter. Eight people from the Missions Team packed shoeboxes with snacks, games, toys, markers, crayons and other items donated by the congregation for distribution to families planning to entertain kids at home on their spring break.
Last month the Missions Team’s focus was the collection of sheets and towels. The Giving Tree started as a collection place for mittens at the Christmas season and is now used year-round for all Mission Board donations. Thirteen sheet sets, fifteen towel sets and two rugs were donated to Eaton Clothing and Furniture Center. First Congregational Church continues to support established organizations that distribute needed assistance to our community and hopes to improve public perception of an important part of the churches’ ministry.
